Motorola Photon 4G was already confirmed to get an official Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update on February. The company also make a clear statement that it will be released to public on the third quarter this year. Off course both of us knew that such update was not released on that time. So, what happen to this project? Did Motorola find some trouble providing Android 4.0 update for Photon 4G?
Well it seems they did. In the matter of fact, building a stable Android 4.0 stock ROM for Photon 4G might be so difficult for Motorola’s engineering team that they decide to cancel the update project! Yep, that is their final decision guys. No Android Ice Cream Sandwich for Motorola Photon 4G.
This is mean that your Photon 4G will stuck on Android 2.3 Gingerbread forever. There is no particular reason or explanation why Motorola decide to drop the project, but that doesn’t really matter anymore right now. The fact that Photon 4G left out in cold without any OS update will leave plenty of Motorola fans angry and disappointed for sure.
Your best alternative is to try some compatible custom ROM that build based on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It might be not the best solution for everyone since you need to root and get the bootloader file unlocked first, but it’s better than nothing right?tags: Android 2.3, Android 4.0, Gingerbread, ICS, Motorola, Photon 4G
