WarGames: WOPR Review

WarGames: WOPR might sounds quite familiar for some of you. I’m not surprised though since this game was already available for iOS since few months ago. Not to mention that it is based from a ’80s popular movie title starring Matthew Broderick. You remember the story right? A teenage boy who accidentally activated nuclear launch system because he thought that it was a game. But on WarGames: WOPR, you won’t be playing as Matthew’s role. In fact, you will be on the dark side, the computer, or in this game called as WOPR. It stands for War Operation Plan Response.

In order to win this game, you must drain your enemy’s life bar to zero using missiles, mods, and tactics. On the other hand, you will loose if your enemy do similar things to you. But there is no need to worry guys, there are some power ups and health that can help you during a war session. Once you start a war, the screen will be filled by couple of tiles. Each tile is currently packed with valuable resources like money, missile, research and health. Create a chain to get those items and launch nukes to defeat your opponent. Missiles will reduce health, money allow you to buy some useful tactics, and research is required to upgrade your fortress.

WarGames: WOPR also offer an interesting game called Poker Mode. On this section, you will be asked to drop enemy tiles to the bottom row of the game board. Once you manage to do this, your enemy will automatically out of the game. But please remember that Poker Mode must be finished in certain amount of time. Failed to do the mission will cause huge amount of damages to your own health bar. There are also some items like hearts, spades, diamonds, and clubs. You need to create chains with these items to avoid critical damage. I really appreciate the fact that developer include this mode on the game, because it is a good alternative for the core gameplay.

Since you’re playing as a computer, you will be granted with RAM each time you progress in the game. These RAM can be used to purchase additional tactics. You are able to equip five of them during a play. I have spend couple of hours with WarGames: WOPR and there are up to 12 different tactics available at the moment. Remember, you can also take advantage from passive tactics. This kind of tactic won’t do any special action during the combat, but will be able to increase value of specific attribute. For example, using base chain will allow you to double the value of your chains.

WarGames: WOPR have total of six different levels to play. Like i said earlier, there are lot of RAM available on each stage, so you can build yourself as a super computer.

Overall, WarGames: WOPR is very recommended for those of you who love to play 3 tiles match game type. I know that there are lot of similar game available on the Google Play store right now, but WarGames: WOPR manage to stand out as it has innovative and creative gameplay.
