This is a great news for those of you who want to build your own empire while your on a bus. Mojang is recently release Pocket Edition of Minecraft for Android guys! Basically, is a direct port from the PC version of the game with some modification make the game works smooth on Android OS.

Minecraft pocket edition-1

Once you finish the installation process and launch Minecraft Pocket Edition, you will be presented with two different modes: Creative or Survival. Just like the PC version, your main objective is build as many structures as you can. If you want to venture around the Minecraft world, you can just tap on the screen to initiate the jump command. For those of you who love to play mission-driven game, i suggest you to pick Survival mode. You will be asked to accomplish few tasks like killing zombies, eating sheep, while building your own structures. You will still experience day/night cycle on this Pocket Edition of Minecraft, just like in the desktop version.

In terms of gameplay, Minecraft Pocket Edition is one of the simplest Android game. You can find virtual direction pad on the lower left corner. I believe that you don’t need to use jump buttons frequently, because your character will automatically jumps to next block. In order to look around the environment, you can just tap and drag on any area of the screen.

Right on the bottom of the screen, you will have a full selection of different type of materials that you can use to build structures. In order to gain access to more items, tap on the ellipsis button to gain access to more elements like doors, ladders, and water.

I found that building and destroying blocks in Minecraft Pocket Edition is way lot simpler than the desktop version. In order to place a block, you can just tap anywhere on the screen. To remove one or all of them, you need to tap and hold. A circle will appear. Once this circle full, your block will be completely wiped out.

Creative mode is made for those of you who love to build things in Minecraft Pocket Edition. Players will have unlimited access to any kind of materials, so you don’t have to do mining or hunting. On the other hand, Survival Mode will grant you with survival tools like shovel and weapons. Do not forget that the amount of materials that you can use are limited. Natural items like mushroom and bamboo need harvesting.

Minecraft pocket edition-3

In terms of graphics, Minecraft Pocket Edition was manage to deliver the same quality as it’s desktop version. Blocks and other objects are rendered in smooth quality. One thing that i immediately realize is that the open world in Minecraft Pocket Edition is quite small. In less than 2 minutes, you should be able to reach the border. Also there is no online multiplayer mode. Thankfully, you can play against your friends over WiFi Internet connection.

Overall Minecraft Pocket Edition will be able to satisfy all loyal fans of the desktop version. This game doesn’t drain your battery power. Not to mention that the controls are accurate and extremely fluid. If you want to build some structures on your free time, Minecraft Pocket Edition is a must!
