Samsung Galaxy Note II vs Galaxy S III: Specs Comparison

Samsung Galaxy Note II was official become the new kid on the block as the Korean giant officially announce it at Berlin last night. Carry on the same “phablet” concept as it’s predecessor, Galaxy Note II also bring some major improvement. Users should be able to take advantage from it’s quad-core processors and 5.5″ Super AMOLED display with HD resolution. But how’s this new handset will exactly change the game? Does it manage to take on other competitors? I know that there are lot of person who are not too comfort holding on bulky handset.

That is why Samsung also design Galaxy S III. Recently upgraded to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the handset’s display is currently measured at 4.8″ only. But don’t take it wrong guys. It has all power that you need to crush Galaxy Note II.

So, which one that you should pick? Well, the answer is depend on how you plan to use your handset. But in order to give you some thought, i decide to make a specs comparison between Galaxy Note II and Galaxy S III. Check out my full explanation below:

Display. Samsung Galaxy Note II posses 5.5″ Super AMOLED screen that able to provide 720 x 1280 pixels resolution image with 267ppi. On the other hand, Galaxy S II carry on smaller Super AMOLED screen. It is currently measured at 4.8″ with similar resolution. However, Galaxy S III has better 306ppi  pixels density. Both of them are currently protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2

Internal memory. Both Samsung Galaxy Note II and Galaxy S III are currently available in 16/32/64GB edition. All of them are supported by microSD card slot for data expansion purpose. But Galaxy Note II manage to take on S III on this section. The phablet posses 2GB RAM while Galaxy S III only has 1GB of it

Connectivity. Either Galaxy Note II and Galaxy S III feature usual connectivity function like WiFi a/b/g/n, WiFi direct, WiFi hotspot, HSDPA, HSUPA, LTE, Bluetooth, and NFC. They also posses microUSB slot for charging and data transfer purpose.

Camera. Both Samsung Galaxy Note II and Galaxy S III posses similar camera unit. You can use their 8.0 megapixels primary camera to capture HD 1080p video. It is also packed with autofocus sensor and LED flashlight. For those of you who want to initiate a nice video chat session, you can make a good use of their 1.9 megapixels front facing camera.

OS. Galaxy Note II is currently running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. On the other hand, Galaxy S III was released with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich on board, but an official JB update will become available in the next few weeks

Processors. Galaxy Note II is currently powered by Exynos quad-core processors that clocked at 1.6GHz. It is little bit faster than Galaxy S III, which also posses similar CPU, but with slower 1.4GHz clock. In term of GPU, both of Galaxy Note II and Galaxy S III are similar. They are packed with Mali 400 MP to satisfy all your 3D render pleasure.

Battery. Samsung Galaxy Note II should be able to provide you with better battery life since it has larger 3,100 mAh Li-Ion battery unit. On the other hand, Galaxy S III is currently rely on 2,100mAh battery unit for it’s main power source.
