Galaxy Tab 2 duo were released as part of Samsung’s attempt to continue the success of previous series. However, customers reaction to two new Galaxy Tab 2 (7″ and 10″ edition) were cold rather than exciting. Yes i know that they are priced at an affordable rate, but there is no major difference in specs when you compare them to the original Galaxy Tab. It’s not hard to see why Galaxy Tab 2 now become less popular alternative for Android tablet. Especially with the arrival of Google Nexus 7, a slightly better device with competitive $199 price tag.
However, Galaxy Tab 2 is not the only arm that Samsung’s has on their arsenal. The Korea based company is currently plan to release Galaxy Note 10.1. Pretty much similar to the original Galaxy Note, but now with bigger screen. It is said that the tablet will allow users to split the screen in two, so they can open two different app on the same time. Add S Pen stylus support and you will have a good productivity device. According to rumor, Galaxy Note 10.1 will start to penetrate US market by the end of this month since it’s been officially announced few days ago.
So, the question now remain the same. Which one is better, Galaxy Note 10.1 or Galaxy Tab 2 (i use 10.1 version on this comparison). Which one that deserve your money? Interested to find the answer? Then you should read my quick comparison below.
Screen. Both Galaxy Tab 2 and Galaxy Note 10.1 are currently sports 10.1″ touch screen with 1280 x 800 pixels resolution. You should be able to view your HD video collection and navigate around the Internet with ease on these tables.
Processors. Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 will be shipped with Exynos quad-core processors that clocked at 1.4GHz. It is also accompanied by 2GB RAM, making it a powerful yet productive tablet. On the other hand, Galaxy Tab 2 fall behind the competition since it only has 1.0GHz Nvidia dual-core processors and 1GB RAM under it’s hood.
Operating System. Either Galaxy Note 10.1 and Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. But judging from their hardware specs and product age, there is no doubt that Samsung will release an official Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for them in the near future.
Camera. For those of you who put higher value on camera unit, you will be pleased with Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. It is currently posses 5.0 megapixels rear shutter and 1.9 megapixels front-facing camera. On the other hand, Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 is currently posses mediocre camera units. You only get 3.0 megapixel primary camera and VGA shutter as secondary camera unit.
Battery Life. I still don’t have the chance to get my hands on both tablets, but Samsung said that they’re packed with 7,000mAh battery unit that should be more than enough to provide users with nine hours of usage time.
