Best Apps and Widgets for Google Nexus 7

Google Nexus 7 is already become popular device right now. No wonder why. For $199.99 only, you can experience the latest android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS that powered by quad-core Tegra 3 CPU and 12 cores GPU from Nvidia. But since the tablet was released just three weeks ago, it is very understandable if there are not too many apps that support or optimized for Nexus 7. This is why today, i am interested to provide you with top 7 essential apps that you need to install on your Nexus 7 tablet. I have test all these apps by myself and they worked very well. Check out my complete list below guys!

Home screen. There is no need to install additional launcher on Nexus 7. Google’s default home screen is good enough for me. It can accommodate every shortcut that i need on one screen only. In fact, i have access to 90% of my recent apps from home screen!

Google Apps. This pack contain default apps that usually available on all Android device approved by Google. You should be able to find some multimedia apps like Chrome and YouTube. There are also social apps like Google+, Gmail, Google Talk, and People. Other interesting stuff from Google apps include Maps and Calendar.

Dock Apps. I decide to put some important shortcut on my Nexus 7 dock. There’s Zite, an amazing web page that able to compile any kind of news that you like, Just set up few topics and Zite will keep feeding you with that news. It’s like Pandora for news. Other shortcut that present in my docks are Plume, for quick Twitter access, and Google Play store.

Entertainment Apps. Hulu Plus is an important app that allow you to stream some of your favorite movie and TV show. Also don’t forget to install Netflix. I am not to interested watching movie with it, but i really enjoy my time catching up the episodes of New Girl. Last but not least, i want to stay updated with sports news, so i decide to install Watch ESPN.

Music Apps. Remember, Google Nexus 7 is not compatible with 3G or 4G LTE connectivity. This is why it is very important for you to install offline music app like Pandora or Rhapsody. If you’re not too interested on those two, Stitcher or Google’s Play Music will also make good alternatives.

Strategy Games. Google Nexus 7 has Nvidia Tegra 3 CPU and 12 Cores CPU. Both of them are like the best recipe for Android based gaming device! So, why don’t you install some games on this 7″ buddy? For strategy games, i prefer to play Fieldrunner HD, Canabalt HD, World of Goo, or Osmos HD.

Puzzle Games. If you already bored with those Tower Defense based game, you probably need some fast-paced action that usually offered by puzzle games like Burn the Rope, Fruit Ninja, Angry Birds, or Dinner Dash 2

Shooter Games. Turn your Nexus 7 into a powerful portable gaming console by installing some beat em up or shooting games. The good news is, you can use Xbox 360 controller on Nexus 7! Some titles that very recommended are Dead Trigger, Max Payne, The Dark Knight Rises, and ShadowGun THD

Classic Games. If you want to bring back some good memory from the old days, installing classic cartridge game on your tablet is the best solution. That is why i suggest you to grab both Nes.emu and SNesoid from Play store

Writing Apps. Since i work as online Android and app reviewers, i decide to install WordPress. If you love to save some internal memory, you might want to add Google Drive too. You can write down your online note and save it on your cloud drive. Last but not least, i also pack my Nexus 7 with one of the most powerful note-taking app, Evernote.

Storage Apps, Having lot of files and apps can be overwhelming. That is why you need to install some file manager apps. Aside from helping you to access your important files, you can also save some space with it. I recommend you to install such apps like ES File Explorer, GoFlex Media, and Dropbox.
