ZTE Grand X vs Orange San Diego

July 20, 2012 John Reyvaldi Review

ZTE is finally announce the arrival of it’s brand new flagship Android smartphone, the Grand X. During an official presentation event in London on Wednesday, the China based company said that this Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich phone will be priced at £200 only. Aside from the new video processing via Tegra 2 processors, ZTE also highlight the fact that Grand X is able to provide download speed. So, if you want to have new Android to fulfill all your Internet needs, you might want to consider Grand X.

ZTE Grand X vs Orange San Diego

But on the other side, Orange UK also recently released it’s new smartphone called San Diego. Both of these handsets are priced at similar rate, making it hard to pick between them. Especially with the fact that San Diego is carrying Intel’s Medfield chip, which is said to provide better power and memory consumption. So, which one of them is considered as better device? Let’s find the answer in my side by side comparison guys!

Specs-wise, ZTE Grand X is a quite fine smartphone. It sports 4.3″ screen with qHD resolution. Like i said earlier, it is currently powered by Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processors. What you don’t know is the fact that it is currently clocked at 1.0GHz. In order to provide the best system performance, ZTE also implement 512MB of RAM. On the other side, Orange Sand Diego is carry Intel Medfield CPU, 1GB RAM, and 4″ touch screen with 600 x 1024 pixels resolution.

Talk about internal memory, ZTE Grand X has 4GB of it and could be expanded further with the help of microSD card slot feature. On the other hand, Orange San Diego packed with larger 16GB internal storage. Sadly, it doesn’t has microSD card slot.

Some of you might prefer the microSD card slot support since you can add extra data space as you wish. If you already support ZTE Grand X, i have a good news for you. Although Grand X is currently run on Gingerbread, it will be upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on August. Similar firmware will also available for Orange San Diego, but it won’t happen until October this year.

However, i must admit that ZTE Grand X is not the best alternative for those of you who want to take amazing pictures from your handset. It is currently packed with 5.0MP rear shutter and 0.3MP webcam. Sounds good, but wait until you hear San Diego specs. The Orange’s device have two different camera unit attached. 8.0 megapixels on back and 1.3 megapixels on front. You can even record a nice 1080p HD video with it!

I think that i don’t need to explain further here guys. Aside from the camera unit, Orange San Diego is really fall short in any other aspect to ZTE Grand X. Unless you want to taste Ice Cream Sandwich one two month before the new year’s eve, i suggest you to grab ZTE Grand X instead.

What do you think? Agree with my opinion?
