No Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for Asus Transformer TF101?

Asus is Google’s close partner in developing Nexus 7 tablet, the first of it’s kind that running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. So, i am quite surprised when some of my source told me yesterday that the original Transformer TF101 won’t receive Jelly Bean treat this year. The report then explained that only new Transformer TF300, Transformer Prime, and Infinity 700 that will receive Android 4.1 update. I’m sure that there are lot of TF101 owners will be very upset to hear this. However, this decision is seems not final yet. Because today, i receive different information.

As i’ve told you earlier, Asus and Google were working together to provide the world’s first Android 4.1 tablet. So, it is completely not make any sense if they’re not pushing the Jelly Bean to all of their tablet. PocketDroid is one of the web page that confirm both TF101 and Eee Pad Slider won’t be included on Asus’ Jelly Bean update list.

Now, Asus is make things little bit complicated by stating that Transformer and Slider “should enjoy Android 4.1 Jelly Bean too”. This statement was made on their previous statement that only mention three latest Transformer tablets on the Jelly Bean update plan. Will they indeed release Jelly Bean update for TF101 and Slider? Guess that we need to wait for the official statement from them, which should be coming in the next few weeks.

Even if Asus decide not to provide Jelly Bean OS for Transformer TF101, i am quite sure that there are lot of Android developer community out there that will port the OS to the tablet. Judging by it’s specs, TF101 got what it takes to run the Android 4.1 with ease. Not to mention the fact that there’s already a developer that find a way to port Jelly Bean to Kindle Fire. If this was possible, porting Android 4.1 to Transformer TF101 will looks like a piece of cake.
