Google Android 4.1 Jelly Bean was revealed for the first time at I/O Conference 2012 in San Fransisco two weeks ago. The OS was contain plenty of interesting features, including deep notification system, Google Now, and Project Butter, which offer smoother and smarter graphic rendering system. I can tell you that now there are lot of android enthusiast out there that want this OS on their device right now. Google respond very well by announcing that Jelly Bean will be available as OTA update for Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, and Motorola Xoom this month. I don’t know when it will exactly happen and they are not releasing the source code for this OS yet. However, that is not the main question here. What i’m really concern about is how many tablet/phone that will be chosen to taste Jelly Bean this year? In order to answer your curiosity, i decide to come out with some prediction about android tablet that will receive such update. Check out my complete description below.
Acer Iconia Tab A500 and A100. Both of this tablet is recently receive it’s official Android 4.0 update after few times of delay. Judging by the age of the device, there’s a small chance that Acer will provide Jelly Bean update for them. So, A500 and A100 owners, you better start to cross your fingers now!
Acer Iconia Tab A200. Just like A100 and A500, this tablet has just been updated to Ice Cream Sandwich on February. Since it is a budget-friendly device, Acer might not too interested to develop an Android 4.1 update for A200. Even though they decide to create one, it won’t be on their first priority.
Amazon Kindle Fire. Kindle Fire will never updated to Android 4.0, said Amazon. So, we shouldn’t expect any Jelly Bean update for it. The main problem is because the tablet is running on a heavily modified version of the OS, which making it difficult to release an OTA update. However, there’s still a ray of hope since Amazon is expected to release Kindle Fire 2 HD this year. This tablet might be running on the modified version of Jelly Bean!
Asus Eee Pad Transformer. There are plenty of Android user out there that now use Eee Pad Transformer as their primary tablet. So, Asus might consider to release a Jelly Bean update for this one. The only thing that might prevent them from doing this is the fact that the device is already more than one year old now
Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime, Transformer Pad 300, and Transformer Pad Infinity. Unlike their older brother, all of these tablets are powered by quad-core processors and other high-end stuffs. So, they are definitely need to taste Jelly Bean this year.
Barnes and Noble Nook Color. Just like Kindle Fire, the company is never plan to release any OTA update for it. In fact, Nook Color is still running on Android 2.2 Froyo! So, why bother to expect Android 4.1 Jelly Bean from them?
Lenovo ThinkPad. This tablet is recently got an Ice Cream Sandwich treat, so Lenovo’s engineering team might be kind enought to develop a Jelly Bean update for the tablet. Just hope that Google will release the source code soon.
Samsung Galaxy Tabs. With the release of Galaxy Tab 2, it seems like Samsung is now have lot of trouble to solve. They must choose which one from the old Galaxy Tabs to taste the Jelly Bean. Pick a device and leave the other would be a disaster. Customers will get mad since most of Galaxy Tabs are packed with similar hardware specs. Samsung already told that they will reveal a complete list of their device that will receive Jelly Bean update this year. So, we better wait for the official announcement.
Toshiba Excite 13 and Excite 10 LE. Both of this tablet are currently running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, so we can have a high expectation that Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update will come to them this year.
Well, that’s all i can tell you right now guys. Remember, all things that i put up here is nothing but a speculation. For more detailed information and verdict, we should wait for the official announcement from the respective company, which might be available as soon as Google made the Jelly Bean source code to public.
