HTC Desire HD Android 4.0 Update Cancelled!

July 17, 2012 John Reyvaldi Android News

Right on the time when Google’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is available around, HTC Desire HD hasn’t got the promised Android 4.0 update yet. It is true that HTC was made promise that Desire HD will definitely taste Ice Cream Sandwich, but they are refuse to tell us when it will exactly happen. Today, i receive a shocking news about the update.

No ICS for HTC Desire HD

Telus, one of the biggest carrier in Canada, is recently report that HTC has officially cancelled the Android 4.0 update for Desire HD! The recently released HTC update schedule (available as PDF format here) also implies similar thing. Desire HD has vanished from the list. Like i’ve already told you earlier, HTC was made promise earlier on this year that Desire HD, alongside with HTC Rhyme, will taste Ice Cream Sandwich. However, since we’ve got a new spin-off here, the official update might not available at all. But you shouldn’t be worry guys. CyanogenMod team already show their support for CyanogenMod 9 based Android 4.0 custom ROM for Desire HD.

HTC Desire HD was released back on 2010. It’s running on Android 2.2 Froyo and finally gets updated with Gingerbread in the middle of 2011. It is packed with 1.0GHz processors and 768MB RAM. For me, it is more than enough to run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Need more proof? Look at Desire C. It is only powered by 600MHz CPU and 512MB RAM, but still, that doesn’t stop the handset from running Android 4.0.

That is why i’m quite shocked when i read Telus statement, which said that Desire HD update was canceled due to “poor device performance during testing”

So, it is a mourning day for HTC Desire HD owners. But i can tell you that your handset will be taken care by Android community guys. There will be lot of Android 4.0 based custom ROM released for your handset. I promised you that.

Android 4.0, Axed, Cancel, date, Desire HD,
