Google Nexus 7 vs Apple New iPad
Google Nexus 7 was designed to become an Amazon Kindle Fire killer. It is packed with similar screen size and price tag. But that doesn’t mean Nexus 7 can’t attract customers attention away from other bigger tablet like New iPad. For less than $200, you can experience the best of quad-core Tegra 3 CPU. Meanwhile, you need to add $50 more to buy the cheapest iPad 3 and you’re not getting any quad-core treatment at all! Stay tune here to find out more reason why Nexus 7 is waaay better than New iPad!
Display and design. Google Nexus 7 might come out with less cheaper price and plastic made chassis. On the other hand, Apple iPad 3 is currently coated with metal chassis. The moment after you hold your hand into this device, you will feel that this tablet is meant to become a premium product. However, i’m a man that put higher value on portability and that is why i choose Nexus 7 over New iPad. It is fit in to my jacket pocket easily. Off course i need to invest some money for extra protection system, but wouldn’t you do similar thing to iPad 3?
Talk about design, i must admit that iPad 3 Retina Display is manage to crush Google Nexus 7 since the tablet is only able to provide maximum 1280 x 800 pixels resolution with 146 pixels density. On the other hand, Apple iPad 3 is manage to score 264 points in most density test. However, there are not too many apps that developed for Retina Display right now. Aside from the high cost that Apple ask for developer license, there’s no point of creating app with high resolution just to provide you with clearer icon or text looks. All i need is something that offer better and innovative function. In this case, i’d rather surf around Google Play store using my Nexus 7 and look for some useful app for myself.
Processors. This is the part that i makes me really love Google Nexus 7. Google’s device is currently powered by quad-core Tegra 3 CPU from Nvidia that clocked at 1.3Ghz. It is also accompanied by a full gigabyte of RAM. This combination is more than enough to run the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. For this kind of hardware setup, you will only have to pay for $200! On the other side, Apple New iPad is currently feature dual-core Cortex A9 on Apple A5X chipset that clocked at 1.0Ghz. It manage to offer you with good performance on graphics rendering and system performance. However, you must pay for at least $500 to take advantage from such system! Holy cow, in this kind of economic situation, i won’t pay that much just for a tablet. Let me be honest with you guys. Forget all the benchmark test and reviews. Now you’ve got a pretty damn tablet priced at $200. So, you can consider this as a chance of a lifetime. In addition, decide to invest your money on Nexus 7 will also mean that you can take advantage from Android 4.1 Jelly Bean!
Storage. Google Nexus 7 is released in two different version, 16GB and 32GB. On the other side, Apple New iPad available in three different edition, 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB. Both of them don’t have any microSD card slot for data expansion purpose. So, if you’re a great fan of big data storage, you can choose the 64GB New iPad. However, if you’re only looking for 16GB and 32GB storage, i suggest you to choose Nexus 7 guys. Why? Well, isn’t that a very simple question to ask. Which one that you choose if you have two tablet with similar price tag but the other one offered in less expensive price? Nexus 7 rocks!!
Well, that’s all my verdict guys. Off course i’m not asking you to totally agree with me. However, if you’re looking for a good balance between price and performance, you should really consider to purchase a new Nexus 7. Who cares about Retina Display or closed system environment if you manage to get similar experience with far lesser amount of money. Don’t forget that you’re also get direct support from Android’s founding father, Google!
