July 24, 2012 John Reyvaldi Android News

Android was considered as one of the most vulnerable platform in the past few years. This is a pretty annoying since the OS is very popular right now. Holes in the OS mean that there are lot of hackers and malicious malwares can take advantage from it to exploit user’s personal data, which in turn will be used for their own personal gain. I know that Google already release the Bouncer service to protect Android against malware, but it seems like the protection system is not good enough. Last week, Symantec spotted two new malwares disguised as Super Mario and GTA games on the marketplace. Although Google already claim that they’ve done the cleaning process, other similar malwares are still exist!! Are you kidding? Even the chef can’t take control of his own recipe?

Duo Security X Ray

That is probably why Duo Security, a notable security company, is recently release the X Ray app for android. Unlike any other security app, X Ray won’t look for malwares or viruses and eliminate them. Instead of that, X Ray will looking for holes on the Android system and fixed it automatically. The company said that there are still plenty of Android device with lot of bugs being sold in the market right now. They feel responsible to offer an easy solution for the customers and that is why they release the X Ray for Android.

Co-Founder of Duo Security, Jon Oberheide, the same man how told us that Jelly Bean is the safest android, explain that X Ray is a free Android app that will help customers to raise the awareness of malware and viruses threat on Android. Like i’ve told you earlier, X Ray will looking for holes on the Android system, instead of search and eliminate malwares. For example, the Gingerbread’s bugs (also known as Gingerbreak) are still around right now, even the issues were known since last year. X Ray is made to deal with this kind of problem.

Android security was never been my biggest concern guys. But looking at the recent cases and malwares. I am start to thinking to bring more protection to my Android. I know that my phone is not storing too many personal data since the Internet connection is not that good in here, but for precaution, i will install this app right away.

What about you guys? Interested? X Ray app is now available at Duo Security web page. So don’t point your browser to Google Play store.
