Google Nexus Tablet Should be Priced at $149
Google Nexus tablet is expected to make it’s first public appearance in San Fransisco by the end of this month. That is the time when the giant search company held this year’s I/O conference. There will be no better time and place to introduce the world’s first Nexus tablet. The 7″ device was made by one of the biggest tablet manufacturer in the world, Asus.
Rumors said that Google Nexus will be powered by Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core CPU. Users will be presented with high-detailed graphics quality with the help from Nvidia’s 12 cores GPU, which should accompany the 7″ IPS screen that able to provide maximum 1280 x 800 resolution. In order to make sure of smooth system performance, the tablet will also shipped with a full gigabyte of RAM. But the most interesting part is the fact that Nexus tablet might run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Latest version of Android OS that hasn’t got its official announcement yet.
In terms of pricing, some of our source suggest that the tablet will be released in two different version. The 8GB version will be priced at $199, while the 16GB might offered for $249. Based on the technical details that we provided above, it is absolutely right to say that Google Nexus tablet will provide better specs than any other tablet with similar price like Nook Color or Amazon Kindle Fire.
However, it seems like Google miss the part that Amazon Kindle Fire is already become the world’s best-selling Android tablet with high margin. The 7″ eReader is manage to own up to 54 percent of the market. What makes it interesting is that Kindle Fire is not the only tablet in the world that priced at $199. This is mean that Google Nexus tablet will face some serious and though competition if they don’t do anything about it.
That’s why we think that it would be a smart step for Google to reduce Nexus tablet price to $149. Off course they have to do some significant changes on the hardware specs, but it might worth to do if the company seek for high revenues from this tablet. For instance, Google can opt to replace the 1280 x 800 IPS panel to 1024 x 600 Qi display and Tegra 3 CPU with OMAP4470 ARM processors. That should do the work.
