Google Nexus 7 tablet was finally get it’s official announcement in San Fransisco. Google is currently take order for this device at Play Store. You can choose between the 8GB and 16GB edition. The first version is currently priced at $199, while the latter will cost you $249. According to Asus executive, this device is intended to take on Amazon Kindle Fire. Actually, this is kinda expected. The Kindle Fire was already announced as best selling Android tablet few months ago. What makes it interesting is the fact that Amazon is currently not rely on Google to make their revenue in Kindle Fire. That is why the giant search company decide to release their own tablet to tackle Kindle Fire. So, does Nexus 7 manage to live up to it’s expectation? let’s find out the answer in our comparison.

Google Nexus 7 vs Amazon Kindle Fire

Design and Display. Both Amazon Kindle Fire and Google Nexus 7 carry on 7″ touch screen. Google’s tablet is currently weighs at 340 grams and able to provide 1280 x 800 pixels resolution via it’s LED backlit IPS HD panel. On the other side, Amazon Kindle Fire’s touch screen is able to provide you with maximum 1024 x 600 pixels resolution. All is possible thanks to it’s IPS screen. You should be able to experience great display quality from both off them, but we must say that Google Nexus is better. In terms of pixels density it is currently measured at 216ppi, while Kindle Fire only manage to score 170ppi.

Processors. Amazon Kindle Fire is currently powered by dual-core TI OMAP Cortex A9 CPU that clocked at 1.0GHz. On the other hand, the new Google Nexus 7 carry on quad-core Tegra 3 CPU that clocked at 1.3GHz. If you’re currently look for better and faster performance, there’s no doubt that Nexus 7 is a better device. It will be able to render latest Android games like Riptide GP or NOVA without any problems. That is why Google Nexus 7 is also a better tablet in this category.

Camera. This is the section where Amazon Kindle Fire is really fall short to Google Nexus 7. The 7″ eReader is miss the presence of any camera unit. On the other hand, Google Nexus 7 posses 1.3 megapixels front-facing camera. You should be able to initiate some good web chat session with this camera unit

OS. Amazon Kindle Fire is now running on the modified version of Android 2.3 Gingerbread, which is not optimized for tablet device. However, you should be able to initiate some function like book purchasing and other standard function with this device. On the other hand, Nexus 7 is currently run on the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. This brand new OS is packed with tons of interesting features like Google Now and Project Butter.

Battery and Memory. Amazon Kindle Fire is currently packed with 4,400mAh battery unit and posses 8GB internal memory+512MB RAM. Google Nexus 7 manage to claim the victory with it’s 4.325mAh battery unit. As we already mention above, the tablet is available in two different version, 8GB and 16GB. Both of them is currently packed with a full gigabyte of RAM.
