iPhone 4S vs Lumia 800c: Which One will Conquer China?

China is now considered as the second-largest mobile market in the world, right behind India. No wonder why there are lot manufacturer now looking for some fortune on this country. Last time we check, Apple has seal the deal with China Telecom to bring the iPhone 4S. This is not the first time for the Cupertino based company to sign a contract deal with a Chinese carrier to bring their latest smartphone. Previously, the iPhone 4S is already available for China Unicom. But what makes China Telecom’s iPhone 4S so special is because it is support for their CDMA network and cheaper than the one that sold by China Unicom!

On the other hand, Nokia also expand it’s business to China this year. Alongside with Microsoft, the Finland based company release the Lumia 800c. It is the modified version of Lumia 800. In terms of hardware specs, there’s nothing different between this handset and it’s original variant, except for the fact that it is support for local Chinese language and the China Telecom network.

So, that’s why today we decided to compare these two smartphone. Which one of these handset that will manage to conquer Chinese mobile market? Let’s check out our complete explanation.

Display. iPhone 4S is packed with a 3.6 inch screen with 640 x 960 pixels resolution and LED IPS TFT technology. In terms of pixels density, it is measured at 330 ppi for it’s pixels density. Not to mention that it is also resistant to scratch, thanks to the protection from Corning Gorilla glass. On the other side, Lumia 800c carry on a 3.7 inch AMOLED screen with 480 x 800 pixels resolution. Same as iPhone 4S, it is coated with Corning Gorilla glass. In addition, Nokia also added it’s own ClearBlack display, which offer for brighter and smoother graphical features.

Memory. iPhone 4S is available in three different storage variant. You can choose between 16/32/64GB internal data storage. Each of them are packed with 512MB RAM. Meanwhile, Nokia only made Lumia 800c in single variant. It is packed with 16GB internal memory and 512MB RAM. unfortunately, it is lack of microSD card slot, so data expansion is not possible here.

Connectivity. iPhone 4S is support for GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA 14.4MBps, HSUPA 5.8MBps, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, WiFi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, and USB 2.0. On the other side, Lumia 800c is support for GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA 14.4MBps, HSUPA 5.76MBps, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.0, and micro USB 2.0 connectivity.

Camera. iPhone 4S packed with dual-camera unit. On the front side, lies 8.0 megapixels camera with LED flashlight and autofocus. On the opposite side, there’s a VGA web camera. This is the part where Nokia Lumia 800c really surpassed iPhone 4S. It has 8.0 megapixels rear shutter with Carl Zeiss lens, dual LED flashlight and auto focus features. It lack of web camera, but you can use the primary camera to record a beautiful 720p HD video.

Processors. iPhone 4S is currently powered by 1GHz dual-core Cortex A9 CPU, alongside with PowerVR SGX543 MP2 GPU. On the  other side, Nokia decided to use a Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon chipset that consist of 1.4GHz Scorpion processors and Adreno 205 GPU.

OS. Apple’s iPhone 4S is running on iOS 5, but you can use the iTunes software to upgrade it to the latest iOS 5.1. Nokia Lumia 800c is currently worked under Windows Phone 7.5 or also known as mango. However, there’s still no words from Microsoft if they will bring the latest Windows Phone 8 Apollo to this handset. Let’s just wait and see until that happen folks.
