Just like HTC Edge and LG X3, Sony is also expected to launch it’s latest entrants in Android smartphone market in this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The Japanese company is predicted to announce new Xperia handset called as Xperia U or also known as Kumquat.
Today, we receive a leaked photo of the unannounced phone. Previously, there’s already some leaked image of Sony Kumquat, but none of them are able to provide us with such details as this one. We are also manage to retrieve some information about Kumquat technical details. It is reported that Kumquat will carry on 3.5 inch screen with FWVGA resolution, or similar to iPhone. This phone will run on Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread. Deep inside it’s chassis, you’ll find a 1GGHz dual-core processors. A 720p rear camera and removable 1,290mAh battery unit are also available.
It is little bit disappointing if Kumquat doesn’t feature Android 4.0 out of the box, but we believed that Sony will provide the new OS update soon after the device is released.
As you can see on the image above, the Xperia U is put on side by side with Xperia S. There’s no major difference in term of design. In fact, we can say that Xperia U is the smaller version of Xperia S.
However, there’s still no official statement yet from Sony. We have no idea when it will start to penetrate US market or for how much it will be priced. That’s why we hope to find out more information about Xperia U and Xperia S in the Mobile World Congress 2012.tags: Kumquat, leaked, Sony, Xperia U
