LG Nitro HD vs Samsung Galaxy S2
LG Nitro HD is officially arrive to AT&T. Some people believed that the HD smartphone will crush the popularity of Samsung Galaxy S II, the device that is considered to be the “iPhone 4S killer”. But it is really will happen like that? Then you must check our comparison of these two device.
Design : Both T-Mobile and Sprint models of Samsung Galaxy S2 has 4.25 inch screen size, while AT&T models feature the original 4.3 inch screen size. It has 800×480 resolution with Super AMOLED technology. Nitro HD has 4.5 inch screen size. The HD capacitive touchscreen featured 1280×720 resolution with pixel density at 326ppi value.
Size : Nitro HD has 5.27 x 2.67 x 0.41 inches dimension and weighs 4.5 ounces only. AT&T version of Samsung Galaxy S2 has 4.96 x 2.60 x 0.35 inches dimension with 4.3 ounces weight. 5.11 x 2.71 x 0.37 inches is the dimension for T-Mobile model, which weighs 4.77 ounces. Last one, is the Sprint model that has 5.11 x 2.74 x 0.38 inches dimension and weighs at 4.6 ounces.
Processors : Both Nitro HD and T-mobile variant of Samsung Galaxy S2 are powered by same 1.5 GHz Dual-core Qualcomm APQ8060 processor. Meanwhile, AT&T and Sprint use 1.2 GHz Dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 Mali-400MP GPU Orion processors to powered their own variant of Samsung Galaxy S2.
Camera : Nitro HD and all variant of Samsung Galaxy S2 has 8 megapixels camera for it’s primary use. While for the secondary camera, Nitro HD got 1 megapixels and Samsung Galaxy S2 sport bigger 2 megapixels front-face camera.
3G/4G connection : Nitro HD supports for HSDPA 21 Mbps, HSUPA 5.76 Mbps and 4G LTE network connection. Samsung Galaxy S2 from T-Mobile is capabel to work under HSDPA 42 Mbps network and AT&T models support for HSDPA 21 Mbps. Sprint models only able to run on Rev. A up to 3.1 Mbps network connection.
Operating System : Both of Nitro HD and Samsung Galaxy S2 (any models) currently run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system. Google has confirmed that Galaxy S2 is capable to receive Android 4.0 update and they promise that there will be an update in the future. On the other hand, LG did not made any official statement about Android 4.0 update for LG Nitro HD.
WLAN/Bluetooth/USB : LG Nitro HD is packed with Bluetooth 3.0 technology, alongside with A2DP, HS, and micro USB 2.0. It also support for Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, and Wi-Fi hotspot function. While Samsung Galaxy S2 higher Bluetooth 3.0+HS. Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n DLNA support and Wi-Fi Direct feature are also available.
Storage : Nitro HD has 4GB internal data storage that is expandable using external memory card. The microSD card slot can handle up to extra 32GB capacity, but AT&T already include pre-installed 16GB microSD card. Meanwhile, Samsung Galaxy S2 come with two different model, 16 GB and 32 GB version. Both of those model can handle extra memory card up to 32GB.
Battery : Sprint put on a Lithium Ion 1800 mAh battery unit for their variant of Samsung Galaxy S2. AT&T version got smaller Li-Ion 1650 mAh battery. T-Mobile variant got the bigger battery unit with the Li-Ion 1850 mAh battery unit. While LG Nitro HD only has standard Lithium Ion 1830 mAh battery.
Pricing : For $249.99, you can own LG Nitro HD from AT&T on two years contract service. If you’re lucky, AT&T offer $100 discount in selected areas. Galaxy S2 will cost you $199.99, if you prefer to buy it from Sprint or AT&T. While T-Mobile variant is the most expensive Galaxy S2 model with it’s $229.99 price tag.
