The Chinese mobile device manufacturer, Huawei, released their latest smartphone Huawei Ascend II. Priced at $179.99, this device is an upgrade for the previous Huawei Ascend. Cricket Wireless will be the carrier to accompany this android based smartphone.

Currently run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, Huawei Ascend II feature 3.5 inch screen with 320×480 resolution touchscreen. You might not experience the fastest performance with the 600 MHz ARM Qualcomm processors, but this phone is still able to run more than 250.000 android application that is available in the android market.

The company enhance the headphone jack size to 3.5 mm, while the original Ascend only got 2.5 mm headphone jack. Might not a major improvement, but it will be easier to find compatible headset for this one. You’ll also get a pre-installed 2GB memory card, but the slot can take up to 32GB capacity. Good addition, considering that the internal data storage only give you 160MB space.
