Turn Your Android Device to a Universal Remote Control
Android seems offer some hidden potential, one of them is already discovered by Griffin and Dijit. The joint developer announce Beacon Remote application, that convert any Android based tablet or smartphone to universal home-theater remote control. Beacon system is also developed for iOS platform through some free application. The Android version is also free, but Beacon itself will cost you about $69.99.
This conversion process is a combination between hardware and software. If the old system remote control used IR (infra red) technology, then Dijit apps use Bluetooth connectivity in order to communicate with Beacon device. The process will continue, as the Beacon device convert the command from remote control apps into IR signal and beam the signal to your home-theater system.
This Dijit application is available on Android Market now and you can get it for free. You’ll need Android 2.3.3 or better to run this application smoothly. But almost all type of Android based device is supported with this application.
