How to Install Android Market Apps on Nook Tablet

Just a week after Barnes and Noble started to ship their Nook tablet, the hackers are already find out a way to make the official Google Android market to work on the device.

But if you’re a not-so-advanced android user, you might want to skip the party. Since this process will require some condition. You have to install Android SDK kit and the java developer kit. Next, you have to enable adb on your current Nook tablet. This process will force you to manually enter the command line via command prompt. Finally,  you have to manually copy the android market to your tablet and root it, so you can use the apps on your device.

If you’re fine with that, you can follow the instruction from XDA member named Loglud. Loglud instruction will tell you how to adding the Nook tablet to your computer’s adb setting. Loglud also provide a tutorial to root your tablet. His method is using adb to push zergrush into the tablet.

You can also use Indirect methods, Indirect is also a member from XDA forum. He offer simpler instruction, which feature one-click windows utility to root the Nook tablet. But if you want to use this method, make sure that you already installed and run the ADB.

Once you successfully root your phone  and enable abd on your device, you can directly navigate to XDA forum to follow specific instruction to install Android market on Nook tablet.

Android market will allow you to get some useful application that aren’t available from Barnes and Noble. But please notice that not all Android application will be available on your Nook. This condition is same as Android market that is installed to a Kindle Fire.

We still need some patch in order to give command to Android market apps for display the hidden apps. Same problem is appear in HP Touchpad, which also receive unofficial android market application. However, a patch is already available to fix the problem on the HP Touchpad android market and we hope that similar patch will come for Nook and Kindle Fire.

If you want to once again access your Nook tablet via adb, you have to re-enabled the adb support everytime you unplug the tablet from your computer. You can achieve this from Android development menu. This option is not shown by default, but you can follow this instruction to make a shortcut on your home screen.

Although there’s still some big holes on this hacks, those hackers have really done a great job. Considering that this is still a week since the tablet is officially start to sold.
