It seems that the famous multimedia gadget from Apple, the Apple iPod Touch won’t be alone in the gadget market, since now it has found new competitors from it rival company, Samsung.
Samsung, as we all know as Android smartphones and tablets manufacturer, has announced two of its multimedia gadgets running on Android OS to challenge the Apple iPod Touch. They are the Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 and Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0. Both of them have the specs similar to the original Samsung Galaxy S, except for the ability as a phone. Both Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 and Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 come with a 1 GHz Hummingbird processor, WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, 8 GB internal storage capacity, and microSD card slot up to 32 GB. As for the Android version, both of them run on Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread.
Then, what are the differences between Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 and Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0? Well, as the names suggest, the 4.0 and 5.0 here represent their screen sizes. The Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 comes with 4-inch touch display, while the Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 comes with 5-inch touch display. The other difference is on their battery size. The Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 is powered by a 1200 mAh battery pack, while the Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 is powered by a whooping 2500 mAh battery pack. It is such a large battery capacity. I think the Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 can even last for 3 days with standard use, considering that both of them don’t have phone capabilities.
I know that the specs are not quite impressive for these days, but considering them as the Apple iPod Touch contenders, they both have larger screen sizes than the gadget from Apple. So, I think there will be a tough battle between them.
As for the prices, the Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 will be priced at $229, while the Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 will be priced at $269. They will be available on October 16, but the pre-orders have started from September 27tags: gadger, Galaxy Player 4.0, Galaxy Player 5.0, Ipod Touch, SAmsung
