Tracking Data Usage with Some Apps

Have you ever experienced that when you want to download a file with large size, you feel that your Android smartphone downloads it with a very very low speed, even though you are in 3G coverage? Or, have you ever experienced that you download many things freely at the beginning of a month, but your unlimited data quota has depleted at the middle of the month? It is quite annoying right? Well, basically, the quota of the unlimited data is like our monthly salary. We have to pay attention to it and not waste it before the next month comes. So, here I will tell you about several apps that can track your data usage and remind you about the remaining quota.

1. Carriers’ apps

Well, it seems that the most effective apps are from the carriers themselves, since they are the ones who give unlimited data service. Verizon app is called My Verizon, and AT&T app is called myAT&T. Both of them give you information about your data usage based on the information stored on their remote systems. The different about those two are just their appearances.

2. 3G Watchdog

As the name suggests, with 3G Watchdog, you can watch your data usage by setting quota, billing cycle, and alert settings. A table will appear on the main screen showing your data usage. There will be an icon in your notification bar that changes color (green->orange->red) depending on how close you are to your quota limit.

3. My Data Manager

My Data Manager is an app like the 3G Watchdog, but the difference is that My Data Manager also works on individual apps. So, it allows you to see which app take most data and which app take less data than other apps.

So, it’s not quite hard to manage your data usage, right? Tracking data usage is considered  as a very important thing, that is why the carriers provide you with their own apps, right?
